Karnataka: The Karnataka High Court has refused to quash the First Information Report (FIR) against Nikita Singhania, the wife of Bengaluru IT professional Atul Subhash, who stands accused of abetting her husband's suicide.
During the proceedings, Justice S.R Krishna Kumar noted that the FIR contains sufficient details to substantiate the allegations of abetment to suicide.
Questioning the petitioner's reluctance towards the investigation, the bench said, "The prima facie ingredients of the offence are made out in the complaint. Why don't you want the investigation to happen?''
Singhania's counsel argued that the complaint lacks specific accusations linking her to her husband's tragic decision.

They further argued that seeking legal recourse should not automatically infer her culpability for such grave accusations.
The court has served notices to the respondents, instructing them to present their objections.

Furthermore, the prosecution has been directed to submit all evidence gathered during the inquiry.
This legal process follows the recent bail granted to Singhania, her mother Nisha Singhania, and her brother Anurag Singhania by a Bengaluru court on January 4.
The Subhash family intends to challenge this bail decision in the High Court.
The case has gained huge public interest due to allegations that Singhania demanded ₹3 crore from Subhash as part of a divorce settlement anf mentally harassed him, purportedly leading to his untimely death.
The police have filed an FIR against the accused under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS).
Subhash's family has raised concerns about the safety of his child, currently under their care, fearing potential harm if Singhania were to regain custody. They have petitioned the Supreme Court for permanent custody, citing the welfare of the child.
