Jaipur: A private college in the city received a bomb threat via email on Tuesday, said police. Soon after receiving the information, police swung into action and conducted searches at the premises but nothing suspicious was found.
The email was sent to the SSG Pareek PG College in Shastri Nagar. Police said the email was sent in the name of "KNR" group that also claimed responsibility for bomb threats given to schools in Delhi last month.
"Efforts are being made to identify and trace the sender," news agency PTI quoted police as saying.
This comes a day after Delhi airport and a Thane-based hospital received a bomb threat via email.
The bomb threat to a Delhi-Dubai flight which had created uproar in the IGI Airport, later turned out to be a hoax. According to the Delhi Police, the bomb threat was received on Monday at 9:35 am. "On June 17, at 9.35 am, an email was received in DIAL office, of the IGI Airport with the threat of bomb inside Delhi to Dubai flight," a senior police officer said.
While in Thane, the police had barricaded the area to prohibit people from moving. The bomb squad and dog squad were also rushed to the spot for investigation, said Mira-Bhayandar, Vasai-Virar (MBVV) police.
Earlier in April, Jaipur airport had received bomb threat twice in three days. The threat email was sent to the airport’s official email address. The sender claimed that bombs had been planted in three aircraft as well as at the airport, according to media reports.
Last week, several museums in Delhi received bomb threats, which later turned out to be bogus, the police said. Officials said that bomb threats were sent to around 10-15 museums including the Railway Museum in Delhi via emails.
The police reached the spots after receiving the information. Upon investigation, the officials found that the mail was a 'hoax' and no bomb was found in the museums. Several institutions; schools, colleges, hospitals, and airports, in the national capital have received hoax bomb threats lately.
Two Delhi University colleges received hoax bomb threats in May. In the same month, over 100 schools in the Delhi-NCR region received hoax bomb threats.
