Kargil Vijay Diwas: Park dedicated to Indian Army inaugurated in Shivamogga
India is celebrating the 20th Kargil Vijay Diwas on Friday. On the solemn occasion, a park dedicated to the Indian Army has been inaugurated in Karnataka's Shivamogga.

India is celebrating the 20th Kargil Vijay Diwas on Friday. On the solemn occasion, a park dedicated to the Indian Army has been inaugurated in Karnataka's Shivamogga.
The park showcases different sculptures of the Indian Army soldiers and infantrymen thereby indicating their sacrifice for the country. Here are some pictures showing sculptures replicating the events of Tiger Hill in Kargil Sector:

Roop Kumar, an Indian Army veteran said that the park has been made to display the heroic actions of the Indian Army in the mountain warfare that took place over a course of 50 days. He also asserted that the park is of special significance and one of its kind in Shivamogga. In addition, he also said:
"Another reason that the park has been constructed is to inspire individuals who join and serve in the Indian Armed Forces."
The park dedicated to the Indian Army is a joint effort of Shivamogga District Collectorate and Shilpakala Academy in Bengaluru. According to a local, a sculpture camp was organized by authorities of the Shivamogga District Collectorate and Shilpakala Academy. The selected theme was Indian soldiers and their ultimate sacrifices.
"We made sculptures of soldiers from Indian Army, Indian Air Force and Indian Navy." he said
The park is a tribute to the courageous efforts of the Indian Army to push back the Pakistani infiltrators.
