Kerala, Karnataka, Goa on Red Alert for Wet Spell; Heatwave Warning In Uttar Pradesh

New Delhi: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) sounded a red alert for heavy rainfall in Karnataka, Kerala and Goa on Saturday, June 22. An orange alert has been issued in Odisha for a wet spell.
The Met Department issued a yellow alert for Uttar Pradesh, indicating heatwave conditions in the state today. It added that the southwest monsoon will progress towards the state, bringing relief to the region in the next three days.
The weather bureau added that atmospheric conditions are favourable to push the Southwest Monsoon towards Maharashtra, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, West Bengal, Jharkhand and Bihar by June 25.
It added that heavy rains are likely over isolated pockets of West Bengal, Sikkim, Assam, Meghalaya, and Arunachal Pradesh over the next four days. Further, isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall is very likely over the Konkan, Goa and Ghat areas of Central Maharashtra during 21-25 June and isolated heavy rain over the Gujarat region on 21st and 23rd and Marathwada on June 23 and southeast Rajasthan on June 21, 24 and 25 June.
Meanwhile, IMD predicted heatwaves in Uttar Pradesh during until June 24 and in Jammu from June 23 to 25. Heatwaves are expected to subside in these regions after the predicted timeline, the weather bureau added.

Some parts of the national capital and its adjoining areas received light rain on Thursday, bringing huge relief to the city residents who were reeling under severe heatwave conditions. The weather bureau predicted that the monsoon is likely to enter Delhi-NCR around June 30.
