Jammu: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has been handed over the investigation in the Kokernag attack case to probe “larger conspiracy”.

NIA has registered a first information report (FIR) under sections 302 and 307 of the Indian Penal Code, sections 7, 25 and 27 of the Arms Act, and Sections 16, 18, 19, 20, 23, 38 and 39 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967 (UAPA).

Colonel Manpreeet Singh, Commanding Officer of the 19 Rashtriya Rifles, Major Aashish Dhonchak and Jammu and Kashmir police DySP Humayun Muzammil Bhat were killed in action in the attack.

Top Lashkar-e-Taiba Commander Uzair Khan was killed in the encounter.
