Law Student Found Dead In University Hostel In Lucknow, Police Begins Probe

Lucknow: A law student was found dead at the girl's hostel of Dr Ram Manohar Lohiya National Law University. The deceased has been identified as Anika Rastogi, daughter of senior IPS officer Santosh Rastogi. Reports said that Anika was lying in an unconscious state on the floor of her hostel room and was rushed to Apollo Medics Hospital hostel staff, where doctors declared her dead. 

Anika's father, IPS Santosh Rastogi, is an Inspector General in the National Investigation Agency (NIA), said reports. The Lucknow Commissioner also visited the scene late at night to oversee the situation.

What Had Happened? 

On Saturday evening, Anika participated in client counselling with other students and later went for dinner. After dining, she returned to her hostel room around 9:30 PM. When her roommate arrived around 10:00 PM, the door was locked from inside. 

Later, the matron arrived and forcibly opened the door, finding Anika lying on the floor. She was immediately taken to Apollo Hospital, where doctors confirmed her death.

Investigation Underway

Dr. Shashank Shekhar, a spokesperson for the law university, said that it appears Anika may have died of a cardiac arrest. 

“She was a bright student who always sat in the front row in class. The Lucknow Commissioner arrived on the scene late at night, and an investigation is underway”, he added. 

Meanwhile, Anika's parents have arrived from Noida, and the body has been sent for a post-mortem examination.
