New Delhi: In another setback to Arvind Kejriwal, Delhi's Rouse Avenue Court has extended his custody by 4 more days till April 1. Earlier, the Delhi High Court has decided on the PIL seeking his removal from the CM post.

Enforcement Directorate had sought 7 days extension of Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal's custody remand. “Data in one mobile phone (belonging to the arrestee's wife) has been extracted and is being analyzed. However, data from the other 4 digital devices seized during search at Arvind Kejriwal's premises on 21.03.2024 (belonging to the arrestee himself) are yet to be extracted as the arrestee has sought time to provide password/login credentials after consulting with his lawyers,” said the central probe agency.

Arvind Kejriwal was arrested by the ED on March 21 in an excise policy-linked money laundering case and subsequently remanded to the agency's custody till March 28.

AAP Reacts To Court's Decision

"Arvind Kejriwal said (in the court) that he has no objection to it (ED seeking extension of remand) and they be given the remand they have sought. Arvind Kejriwal did not oppose his remand, instead he welcomed it," said Delhi minister and AAP leader Saurabh Bharadwaj on Rouse Avenue Court's Decision to extend Kejriwal's custody.

What Transpired in Court?

Addressing the court, Kejriwal said the alleged liquor policy case has been under probe for two yeas and no court has proven him guilty.

“This case has been going on since two years ago. CBI case was filed on August 2022. Then ECIR file appeared. Who arrested me? No court has found me guilty nor have I been accused. ED has filed almost 25,000 pages and brought many witnesses,” he said.

“Are four statements enough to arrest a sitting CM?” Kejriwal asks the court. "C Arvind, the secretary of Manish Sisodia handed over some documents in my presence. Many people come to my house. Is this reason enough to arrest me?"

This is Political Conspiracy: Kejriwal in Court

This is a "political conspiracy", Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said as he arrived at the Rouse Avenue Court here for a hearing in the excise policy-linked money laundering case. "This is a political conspiracy. The people will give an answer," Kejriwal told reporters as he entered the courtroom.
