He said on X, "CHAMPIONS! Our team brings the T20 World Cup home in STYLE! We are proud of the Indian Cricket Team." He described the thriller in which India repulsed a determined South African team as historic.
Over 140 crore Indians are feeling proud of the cricketers' performance, he said, adding that they won the cup in the field and hearts of crores of Indians in villages and streets.
Bangladeshi smugglers attacked BSF jawans near a border outpost in West Bengal's Baharampur sector with sharp weapons on Friday night.
According to a BSF statement on Saturday, jawans of the 73rd Battalion were on duty when one of them was targeted by smugglers wielding sharp weapons and sticks.
The jawan challenged the smugglers to stop, but they ignored his warnings and forcefully crossed the border and entered India. Their accomplices from the Indian side also charged towards the jawan.
In retaliation, the jawan fired two rounds from his firearm, prompting the smugglers to flee back to Bangladesh, while their Indian accomplices escaped into the dense crop fields.
The Uttar Pradesh government has suspended six officials of civic agencies for gross negligence following road cave-ins and waterlogging at several sections of the newly-built Ram Path in Ayodhya.
The newly-elected Lok Sabha MP from Faizabad, -Awadhesh Prasad, on Saturday demanded a high-level inquiry into the alleged irregularities in the construction of the 14-km-long Ram Path and the sewer lines beneath the road in Ayodhya.
About 15 bylanes and streets along the Ram Path were flooded after rains on June 23 and June 25. Even homes along the road went underwater. Portions of the 14-kilometre road stretch also caved in at more than a dozen places.

Senior RSS functionary Sunil Ambekar on Saturday recalled the days of Emergency imposed in 1975 and said it must be remembered to understand the “kind of people, propensities and the reasons” that lead to the creation of a situation when democratic system and rights come under threat.
Without naming the Congress party which was in power then, Ambekar said that the Emergency, imposed within 25 years of India becoming a sovereign republic, had put the country’s democratic system and democratic rights of the people under threat.
“We must remember the days of Emergency because it will remind us again and again as to what kind of people, propensities and reasons lead to the creation of such a situation when our democratic system and rights would come under threat,” he said.
Such a threat to the country’s democratic system and people’s democratic rights had not come from abroad but “our own political system” with the imposition of Emergency, Ambekar added.
The CBI conducted a search operation on Saturday covering 33 locations in Maharashtra after registering multiple FIRs against 14 officials of two Passport Seva Kendra (PSK) centres in Mumbai for large-scale "collusive corruption", officials said.
The agency has unearthed a corruption racket involving middlemen and officials of the centres in Lower Parel and Malad, they said. The CBI has also booked 18 agents and middlemen in its 12 FIRs.
"These officers were in regular contact with passport facilitation agents and conspired with them to obtain undue advantage in lieu of issuance of passports based on inadequate or incomplete documents or by manipulating the personal particulars of passport applicants," an agency official said.
The alleged corruption was detected during a joint surprise check with the vigilance department of the external affairs ministry at the PSKs on June 26, the officials said.

More than 20 flights of IndiGo that were to operate from Terminal 1 of the Delhi airport were cancelled on Saturday, a day after the terminal was shut down following the roof collapse incident.
A source in the know said 23 flights of IndiGo and 2 flights of SpiceJet that were scheduled to operate from T1 were cancelled on Saturday.
There was no immediate comment from IndiGo.
However, a SpiceJet source said it has shifted all T1 operations to T3 and all flights were operated on Saturday.
A Delhi court on Saturday sent chief minister Arvind Kejriwal to judicial custody for 14 days in connection with corruption charges pertaining to alleged irregularities in the 2021-22 excise policy.
Kejriwal was arrested by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on June 26 in connection with the case. He was sent to CBI custody for three days.

Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge and party leaders Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra expressed sorrow at the death of five soldiers who drowned when their T-72 tank sank due to a flash flood in the Shyok river in Ladakh on Saturday.

The five Army personnel, including a junior commissioned officer, drowned when their tank sank in the Shyok river near the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in the Nyoma-Chushul area of Ladakh.
Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma has condemned the brutal assault of a woman by a group of people in West Garo Hills district and said stern action would be taken against the culprits involved in the incident.
Six people were arrested in connection with the incident that happened in Lower Teksagre village in Dadenggre sub-division following the assault video going viral on social media on Wednesday.

The National Testing Agency (NTA) on Friday announced new dates for UGC-NET June 2024 exams, Joint CSIR UGC NET exams, and NCET (National Common Entrance Test) 2024 Exams. According to the announcement, UGC-NET June 2024 exams are scheduled from August 21 to September 4, Joint CSIR UGC NET exams will take place from July 25 to July 27, and NCET exams will be conducted July 10.

On the canopy collapse incident at Delhi Airport T-1, Union Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu Kinjarapu said, "The incident that happened at the Delhi airport is very tragic...we have taken control of the situation. Terminal-1 is completely closed all the flight movements have been shifted to T-2 and T-3. For those people whose flights have been cancelled, they are being given either a refund or an alternate flight. We will pass a circular to provide refunds to the people within 7 days. We have set up war rooms at T-2 and T-3...we have issued circulars to airlines directing them not to increase airfares...we don't want a similar incident to happen again so we have brought in a special team from IIT Delhi's structural department. They will give an initial inspection report, and based on that necessary action will be taken...to ensure that we are getting a structural preliminary inspection done at all airports, we have sought a report from all the airports across the country within 2-5 days..."
