Madhya Pradesh Cabinet Approves Memorial and Garden Dedicated To Rani Durgawati
Madhya Pradesh cabinet has approved the formation of a panel to develop a memorial and garden dedicated to Gond queen Rani Durgavati for Rs 100-crore.
Bhopal: Madhya Pradesh cabinet has approved the formation of a panel to develop a memorial and garden dedicated to Gond queen Rani Durgavati for Rs 100-crore, an official statement said on Saturday.
During a cabinet meeting led by Chief Minister Mohan Yadav , a proposal to establish the Jain Welfare Board was approved.
In honor of the 500th birth anniversary of the legendary warrior queen Rani Durgavati of the Gondwana kingdom, the council of ministers visited her historical territory in Singrampur village, located in the Damoh district of Bundelkhand.
The government announced plans for a Rani Durgavati memorial and garden to be created in Jabalpur.
A committee comprising Panchayat and Rural Development Minister Prahlad Patel, Public Works Department Minister Rakesh Singh, Tribal Affairs Minister Kunwar Vijay Shah, and Culture and Tourism Minister Dharmendra Lodhi will oversee the project.
The memorial and garden will span 24 acres on Madan Mahal Hill in Jabalpur, as stated by the state government.
Rani Durgawati and Her Legacy
Rani Durgavati was the Gond queen regent of Gondwana who served as regent of Gondwana during the minority of her son, Vir Narayan in the 16th century. She is chiefly remembered for defending Gondwana against the Mughal Empire.
According to the 2011 Census, there are more than 1.53 core tribals who forms 21.08 per cent of the total population in Madhya Pradesh .
"The proposed Jain Welfare Board will ensure the effective implementation of various schemes of the state government for the education of talented children and youth belonging to the community. The board will have a chairman and two members," an official statement said.
The Jain community has a significant presence in the western borders of Madhya Pradesh , which adjoins Rajasthan , Gujarat , and Bundelkhand, as well as Uttar Pradesh.
