Maha Kumbh 2025 LIVE: Devotees on Wednesday gathered at Triveni Sangam in Prayagraj to take a holy dip at Maha Kumbh on the occasion of Maha Shivratri as the 45-day grand celebration ends today.
Many devotees gathered on the banks of the Sangam around midnight, setting up camp and patiently waiting for the 'Brahma Muhurt' to take their holy dip. The Maha Kumbh Mela has featured six special bathing dates: Paush Purnima (January 13), Makar Sankranti (January 14), Mauni Amavasya (January 29), Basant Panchami (February 3), Maghi Purnima (February 12), and Mahashivratri (February 26), including three 'Amrit Snan' (divine baths).
The Maha Kumbh Mela, which began on January 13, was initially expected to experience a crowd of 40 crore devotees in six weeks making it the largest gathering of people. However, as of Monday, February 24, the Uttar Pradesh government reported that more than 63 crore people had visited the event.
On Monday, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath shared on X that 63.36 crore devotees had taken a holy dip at the Triveni Sangam during Maha Kumbh 2025. More than 1.3 crore people visited the Mela on that day alone.
"Hearty wishes to all the revered saints, Kalpvasis and devotees who have come to take a holy dip in the Triveni Sangam today on the holy bathing festival of Mahashivratri dedicated to the worship of Lord Bholenath in Mahakumbh-2025, Prayagraj. May Tribhuvanpati Lord Shiva and holy river Mother Ganga bless everyone. This is my prayer. Har Har Mahadev," the CM said in his tweet.

A huge crowd was seen at the Triveni Sangam here on Tuesday night as pilgrims from various parts of the country began to assemble at the holy confluence site, hours before the auspicious Mahashivratri 'snan'.
Maha Kumbh, the spectacle that takes place once in 12 years, began on January 13 (Paush Purnima) and saw grand processions of Naga Sadhus and three 'Amrit Snans'. The mega religious gathering has drawn a record over 64 crore pilgrims so far.
This is the last auspicious 'snan' of the Maha Kumbh as the festival culminates on Wednesday.
People from different parts of the country, after reaching Prayagraj, began their journey to the Sangam while hordes of other pilgrims started to camp on the grounds facing the ghats, waiting for the opportune moment to perform the bathing rituals.

Maha Kumbh 2025 LIVE: 81 lakh devotees take dip
According to government data, by 2 am on Wednesday, over 11.66 lakh devotees immersed themselves in the Sangam on Mahashivratri, which marks the last day of the Kumbh. The number surged to 25.64 lakh in the next two hours and 41.11 lakh by 6 am. By 10 am, 81.09 lakh people had taken the final 'snan' at the Sangam, the confluence of the Ganga, Yamuna and the mythical Saraswati rivers.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath began monitoring the arrangements at the Kumbh Mela at 4 am from Gorakhpur with senior government officials.
In a post on X, the CM said, "Hearty congratulations to all the revered saints, Kalpvasis and devotees who have come to take a holy dip in the Triveni Sangam today on the holy bathing festival of Mahashivratri dedicated to the worship of Lord Bholenath in Maha Kumbh-2025, Prayagraj.....Har Har Mahadev!" The state government arranged for showering of petals over devotees from a helicopter at the Kumbh. Twenty quintals of flower petals were showered on the devotees in five rounds.

Maha Kumbh 2025 LIVE: Security Heightened Ahead of 'Shahi Snan' on Mahashivratri
The Prayagraj police has beefed up security given the 'Shahi snan' on Mahashivratri on Thursday (February 26) as hundreds of devotees are expected to take a holy dip on the last day of the spiritual grand Hindu celebration.
Deputy Superintendent of Police Yashwant Singh told ANI, "We have increased alertness ahead of the Mahakumbh 'snan' on Maha Shivratri. Additional security has been deployed here, after which the total number of personnel deployed is more than 350. Barricading has been done all around. A holding area has been set up and passengers are being brought here."
He added personnel are making regular announcements for trains so that they stay aware.
