Major Drug Bust: Mumbai Customs Seizes 596 Grams of Suspected Ganja at Airport

Mumbai Customs officials announced on Sunday the seizure of 596 grams of suspected ganja, valued at approximately Rs 59.60 lakh, at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport. The contraband was discovered concealed within food packets inside a trolley bag carried by a passenger arriving from Bangkok, Thailand.

According to the officials, "The Air Intelligence Unit (AIU) officers at Mumbai Airport intercepted and seized significant quantity of contraband on October 12. The operation led to the confiscation of 596 grams of suspected Ganja (Marijuana) with an estimated provisional value of Rs 59.60 lakh." An investigation into the matter is currently underway.

This incident follows another significant operation earlier this month, where Mumbai customs arrested two passengers and seized gold and foreign currency worth lakhs. During an operation on the night of October 4 and 5, officials confiscated 1.165 kg of gold, valued at around Rs 84 lakh, along with foreign currency worth Rs 63.98 lakh. The gold was reportedly found concealed on the body of the accused.
