Meenakshi Lekhi Passes on Baton to Bansuri Swaraj, BJP's Lok Sabha Candidate from New Delhi

Meenakshi Lekhi handed over the details of the development undertaken so far in the constituency of New Delhi to current BJP LS candidate Bansuri Swaraj.

New Delhi: Union Minister Meenakshi Lekhi on Monday handed over the details of the developmental works undertaken in the last 10 years in the constituency of New Delhi to current BJP Lok Sabha elections candidate Bansuri Swaraj, daughter of late veteran politician Sushma Swaraj. 

Lekhi met Bansuri today and gracefully handed the baton to her for the ongoing welfare of New Delhi's citizens.

Taking to X Lekhi said, "Met BJP’s New Delhi Lok Sabha 2024 candidate Sushri Bansuri Swaraj today and handed over the details of the developmental works undertaken in the last 10 years in my constituency (link attached). Passed on the baton to her for continued welfare of the residents of New Delhi. " 

Meanwhile, Bansuri shared her experience with ANI regarding her meet with Lekhi. She said, "Meenakshi didi blessed me and assured me that I will get her guidance".

Daughter of Union Minister Sushma Swaraj, Bansuri Swaraj will fight Lok Sabha Polls from the New Delhi seat on a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) ticket. Incumbent Parliamentarian and Union Minister, Meenakshi Lekhi was replaced by Bansuri in the first list of 195 candidates for the ensuring Lok Sabha Polls.  


 Who is Bansuri Swaraj? 

BJP on Saturday released its inaugural list of 195 candidates for the ensuing Lok Sabha elections. Bansuri Swaraj, the daughter of the late former External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj will be making her electoral debut in the upcoming Lok Sabha Polls.

After getting zeroed in to represent the New Delhi constituency in the Lok Sabha polls, Swaraj expressed her gratitude to the Prime Minister Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, BJP President JP Nadda, and every BJP 'Karyakarta'. 

Bansuri is a prominent Supreme Court of India advocate. She made a transition from a illustrious legal career to the arena of politics.

Bansuri (40) held crucial roles in her legal career spanning over 16 years. Besides boasting a flourishing private legal practice since 2007, she has served as additional Advocate General for Haryana. 

Bansuri's political orientation began when she was appointed as co-convener of the legal cell of the BJP in Delhi in 2023. It is pertinent to note that Bansuri's name was listed next to the names of prominent leaders like senior Union Ministers and Prime Minister Narendra Modi

Bansuri Swaraj's Tiff With Aam Admi Party 

Earlier on Sunday, Lok Sabha Debutante Bansuri Swaraj and Aam Admi Party exchanged barbs over BJP's choice of the Lok Sabha Candidate. 

AAP on Sunday attacked the saffron party for fielding Bansuri Swaraj from the New Delhi Constituency in the Lok Sabha polls. AAP claimed that Bansuri had represented "anti-national forces" in court. 

Bansuri hit back at the party questioned the choice of its candidate who was allegedly thrashed by his own cadre in Rajendra Nagar on Saturday. 

Delhi Minister and AAP leader Atishi said, "Today, she will visit the women in the New Delhi constituency and ask them for votes." Atishi demanded that BJP replace Swaraj as its candidate from the constituency. 

Slamming Atishi, Bansuri said, "I would like to ask the AAP-- why have you fielded a candidate who was thrashed by his own cadre in Rajendra Nagar yesterday?"
