MP: Man killed in celebratory firing

A 49-year-old man was killed in a celebratory firing at an engagement ceremony in Madhya Pradesh's Morena district, police said on Wednesday.

The incident took place on Tuesday night in Shikhahra village during an engagement ceremony at villager Naresh Kushwaha's home, Porsa police station in-charge Narensh Niranjan said.

Some revellers fired shots in the air after the ceremony and one of the bullets hit Bhure Singh Kushwaha, he added.

The victim was rushed to a hospital at Porsa, where doctors declared him dead on arrival, the official said.

A case of culpable homicide has been registered against an unidentified person and further investigations are underway, he added.
