Mumbai: Mihir Shah, the prime accused in the Worli BMW hit-and-run case and the son of a Shiv Sena leader, has confessed to driving the luxury car at the time of the accident that left a woman dead and her husband injured, said police.
Mihir Shah (24) was arrested on Tuesday from Thane district, after remaining elusive for two days after the accident. Subsequently, the Mumbai Police produced Shah before a metropolitan magistrate court in Dadar which sent him to police custody till July 16.
Shah had allegedly rammed his BMW into a two-wheeler, killing Kaveri Nakhwa (45), who was riding pillion, and injuring her husband Pradeep Nakhwa in the early hours of Sunday.
After the crash incident came to light. His father and Shiv Sena leader from Palghar district, Rajesh Shah, was also arrested along with a man, Rajendra Singh, who was allegedly present in the car at the time of the accident on on July 7 morning. Rajesh Shah is also an accused in the case and he was later granted bail. The car that Mihir was driving was registered in the name of his father.
