Mumbai Chartered Accountant Dies by Suicide on Facebook Live, Claims Harassment
The local police have registered an accidental death report and are considering filing a case for abetment of suicide based on the video evidence.
Mumbai: A 33-year-old chartered accountant from Bihar , Sandeep Paswan, died by suicide on Facebook Live on Tuesday, claiming harassment by a woman and her family in Mumbai. Paswan had been living in Mumbai’s Govandi area since 2022. By the time police arrived at his residence, Paswan had already passed away.
The local police have registered an accidental death report and are considering filing a case for abetment of suicide based on the video evidence.
According to the police, Paswan met a woman named Sapna in 2018 and became engaged to her in 2021. She then took Rs 12.5 lakh from him to buy a flat. However, Sapna’s family opposed the marriage, which led Paswan to ask for his money back.
When Paswan came to Mumbai to retrieve the money, Sapna’s family filed a stalking complaint against him in 2023. In the video, Paswan claimed that he also took legal action against Sapna and her family, showing bruises on his body and alleging that they had beaten him and told him to die.
An officer reported that Paswan went live on Tuesday morning around 7 am from his flat in Govandi, where he ended his life.
