Mumbai: In a significant operation, the Mumbai police have seized 1,000 e-cigarettes valued at Rs 30 lakh from a local shop and a residential premises.
This raid, conducted by the crime branch on Monday in the Agripada area, follows the ongoing ban on e-cigarettes in India.
Based on specific information, police targeted the man’s shop, where they recovered 200 e-cigarettes from a carton. An additional 800 e-cigarettes were seized from his residence during the operation.
"The seized e-cigarettes were reportedly sourced from Delhi and Mumbai. The total haul amounted to 1,000 e-cigarettes, with an estimated market value of Rs. 30 lakh," said an official.

Motiwala has been booked under Sections 7 and 8 of the Prohibition of Electronic Cigarettes Act, 2019, he said, adding that further investigations are being conducted by the police officials, he said.
Officials have registered a case against the accused under the relevant sections of the law. The crackdown highlights the authorities' commitment to enforcing the ban and addressing rising health concerns associated with vaping products.
