'Must Apologise': BJP Demands Apology From Sonia Gandhi Over Kerala Cong's Post on PM-Pope Meet

New Delhi: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has demanded an apology from Sonia Gandhi over Kerala Congress' derogatory post on social media on Prime Minister Narendra Modi's meeting with Pope Francis during the G7 Summit. The saffron party seeks an apology from the longest-serving Congress president as the party insulted the Christian community, a religion that Gandhi herself follows.

Amit Malviya, in charge of the BJP's National IT Department in West Bengal taking to X, claimed that Congress after mocking Hindus the party has stopped to the level of insulting the Christians. He further demanded Sonia Gandhi to apologise to the Christian community.

"After mocking the Hindus and deriding their faith, the Islamist-Marxist nexus in the Congress has now come down to insulting the Christians. This, when Sonia Gandhi, the longest-serving Congress President, herself is a practising Catholic. She must apologise to the believers," the post read.

The BJP also demands legal action against Kerala Congress even though the party has deleted its post.

The saffron party's Kerala President L Surendran said, "The @INCIndia Kerala "X" handle, seemingly run by radical Islamists or Urban Naxals, continues to post derogatory and humiliating content against nationalistic leaders. Now, it has even stooped to mocking the respected Pope and the Christian community. It's certain that the AICC General Secretary from Kerala, @kcvenugopalmp , is aware of this. The question is, what are  @RahulGandhi and @kharge 's interests in supporting this?"

Meanwhile, BJP spokesperson Shehzad Poonawala said, "This tweet is an insult of Christians and Jesus Christ who we hold in highest esteem - deleting the tweet won’t delete the insult ! Legal action is a must. In Modi virodh first Congress abused Hindus and Hindu faith and now they are gunning for Christians. FIR u/s 153A , 295, 505 of IPC not just against the handle but entire Kerala Congress & national congress leadership is a must. Hope Left Govt in Kerala will not succumb to ally pressure and defend Congress."
