New Delhi: Amid the ongoing controversy surrounding the NEET-UG and UGC-NET examinations, conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA), the Health Ministry on Saturday announced postponement of the NEET-PG exams, just a day before it was scheduled to take place on June 23.

It is learnt that a day prior to the announcement, the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS), the testing panel which conducts the exam, had cautioned the candidates against falling prey to fraudsters claiming to offer the exam question papers in exchange for "considerable sum of money".

The next date of the exam will be shared by the ministry soon. The decision came against the backdrop of allegations of paper leak in NEET-UG and UGC-NET exams.

The NBEMS on Friday said its officials had discovered that certain people were "fraudulently trying to deceive NEET-PG candidates through social media platforms". The testing panel have also registered police complaint against such fraudsters and their aides for attempting to befool NEET-PG aspirants in the name of providing question papers.

It further cautioned the NEET-PG applicants against being misled by such "unscrupulous elements" who attempted to befool them by claiming to have the question papers "accessed through the authority". A day after the advisory was issued, government announced that the exam had been postponed.

It also issued a warning against the indulgence of any NEET-PG aspirant in any of such activities. It added that such activities would be appropriately dealt with by the NBEMS. The ministry said that the postponement was announced to maintain the integrity of the exam and that it will to conduct a thorough assessment of the examination processes to ensure their robustness and fairness.
