Om Birla : 'I welcome this verdict by the Supreme Court'

Lok Sabha speaker Om Birla on Saturday said the people will respect the supreme court's verdict on Ayodhya. The leader said people have faith in the Constitution and Judiciary. 

'In our democracy, the Judiciary is supreme'

"Our people have full faith in Law, and we have always respected the judicial system.  In our democracy, the Judiciary is supreme. The judgment was given after hearing all sides, the right verdict has been given, I welcome this verdict by the honourable Supreme Court," he said. 

 

Union Minister Prahlad Joshi too welcomed the Supreme Court judgement saying it will further strengthen the unity, integrity, and culture of our country. 

"I welcome the judgement of Supreme Court of India which will further strengthen the unity, integrity and culture of our country. Appeal every one to maintain peace and harmony," he said in a tweet.

Devendra Fadnavis on Ayodya verdict

Leaders from across the political spectrum have asserted to maintain peace and harmony in the country. Maharashtra acting Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said he welcomes the decision and the decision upholds the people's belief in the Judicial System. “I welcome the verdict of the Supreme Court. It will strengthen the country’s multilingual,inter-religious harmony. This verdict is going to solidify the general public’s belief in the justice system,” he said.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi also urged people to maintain brotherhood and asked people to respect the Supreme Court's decision in his address to the nation.

The Supreme Court's verdict 

The Supreme Court on Saturday delivered a unanimous judgment in the title suit of the disputed area awarding it to the Hindu parties for the construction of a temple. It also directed the Centre to come up with a scheme within three months to set up a trust which will hand over the outer courtyard and inner courtyard of the site for construction of a temple. The Court also stated that an alternate land of 5 acres is to be allotted to Muslims for the liberty of constructing a mosque, either by the central government or the State government.
