Kochi: A 37-year-old woman passenger travelling on a KSRTC bus in Kerala’s Thrissur gave birth to a baby girl during journey. The woman, identified as Serina, was travelling from Angamaly to Thottilpalam on Wednesday when the baby was born.
En route to hospital, Serina experienced labour pain when the bus reached Peramangalam Police station and she was immediately taken to Amala Hospital in Thrissur.
Visuals have emerged on social media wherein the bus can be seen stopping at a hospital after the child was born on the bus. Several hospital staff can be seen rushing to provide medical assistance to the mother-daughter duo inside the bus. The staff carried the necessary equipment inside the vehicle to operate the woman. The mother along with her baby was then transferred inside the hospital.
According to sources, as the bus staff realised that the lady was experiencing labour pain, the bus was taken to the hospital at around 12.38pm. By then, the delivery was almost completed. The doctors and nurses helped to take the child out.
Mother of five children, Serina’s and her baby's health condition was stable.
The child was shifted to the NICU (Neo-Natal Intensive Care Unit) in the hospital. Meanwhile, Serina was kept under observation. Later, her husband, Lijesh, also arrived at the location.
