Over 40 Injured As Speeding Bus Overturns in Kerala

Kottayam: Over 40 people were injured in Kerala’s Kottayam, after a speeding private bus overturned in Thalayolaparambu on Saturday evening. On information, the local police and the district administration from the Kottayam district, rushed to the spot and a rescue operation was initiated.

According to a police official, the injured were pulled out of the overturned bus and were rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment, where a few people were claimed to be in critical condition.

The police official stated that the accident involved a private bus operating on the Ernakulam-Pala-Erattupetta route. It is said that the bus was over speeding, during which the driver lost his control of the steering and the bus suddenly overturned leaving several people injured.

The accident happened around 7.15 pm on Saturday, when the speeding bus took a sharp turn at the Gurumandiram junction on the Kottayam-Ernakulam road.

The senior officials of the police and district administration were present at the spot.

A legal proceeding has also been initiated into the matter.
