New Delhi: Pakistan attempted a major escalation with India after it fired a missile aiming towards Delhi, however, the Indian armed forces successfully thwarted and shot down its Fateh-1 missile over Sirsa in Haryana.

Pakistan used short range Fatah-1 missiles to target several Indian cities including Jammu, Srinagar, Amritsar, Pathankot, Udhampur, New Delhi, Jalandhar, and Sirsa.

All Pakistani missiles were shot down by Indian air defence system including S-400 and Akash air defence.

Pakistan has been trying to target several Indian cities using drone strikes for the past three days but all its attempts were thwarted by successfully by a robust Indian air defence system.

A rattled and frustrated Pakistan then resorted to further escalation and fired Fatah-1 ballistic missiles, aiming to target Jammu, Srinagar, Amritsar, Pathankot, Udhampur, New Delhi, Jalandhar, and Sirsa. But all these attempts were neutralised by India's air defence system.

One of the Fatah-1 missiles was shot down by India in Haryana's Sirsa that was aimed towards New Delhi.

Not just missiles, Pakistan amplified drone attacks, targeting civilians in towns and districts that are adjacent to the international border and Line of Control.

In one of the attacks, Pakistan launched a drone strike damaging a Hindu Shambhu temple in Jammu. Meanwhile, blasts have been reported at multiple locations and districts along the Line of Control and International Border.

In another development, India shot down 3 Pakistani fighter jets post which a manhunt is underway to search for the Pakistani pilots.

Pakistan’s continued escalation along the western front through drone incursions and munitions is a matter of grave concern.

Endangering civilian lives unacceptable, Ministry of Defence

The Ministry of Defence has issued a statement after Pakistan's escalation saying endangering civilian lives is unacceptable.

“Today at approximately 5 AM, multiple armed enemy drones were detected over Khasa Cantt, Amritsar. Our air defence units responded swiftly, intercepting and neutralising all hostile UAVs. This blatant attempt to violate India’s sovereignty and endanger civilian lives is unacceptable.”
