Mumbai: Heavy rain, accompanied with winds, lashed several parts of Mumbai on Saturday, bringing the temperatures down. The city has been receiving rain for the past few days, providing a sigh of relief to residents who were reeling under heat.

Visuals have emerged from south Mumbai wherein rain can be seen lashing streets. According to India Meteorological Department (IMD), the city is likely to witness rain until June 27.

The maximum and minimum temperatures are expected to hover around 33 degree Celsius and 26 degree Celsius during this period, respectively.

The monsoon arrived in the city early this year but experienced a brief hiatus before picking up again earlier this week. 

As per IMD data, Mumbai logged 20mm rainfall in the 24 hours ending 8.25am today. Meanwhile, the Colaba observatory reported 8.2 mm of rain
from 8:30 am to 6:30 pm on Friday, and a total of 28 mm since early morning on June 19. Dahisar received 118 mm rain, followed by Mira Road (95.5 mm), Bhayander (73mm). Ram Mandir(45mm), Mumbai Airport (31mm).

Earlier on Friday, heavy rain lashed Thane, causing a tin shed to collapse on a football stadium. The collapse incident left nine children injured. The children were playing at stadium when the mishap was reported.
