CBI files chargesheet against accused in online trading scam in Assam
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Monday filed a chargesheet against Monalisa Das, a representative of DB Stock Consultancy, in connection with an online trading scam in Assam, officials said.
In the chargesheet filed before Special Judge for CBI cases Chandmari, Guwahati, the CBI alleged that the company deceived several investors over a deposit scheme in Assam.
"The chargesheet was filed under Section 25 read with Sections 21(1), 21(2), and 21(3) of the Banning of Unregulated Deposit Schemes Act, 2019; Section 409 of the Indian Penal Code; and Section 316(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023," a CBI spokesperson said here.

Manipur extends internet suspension amid rising violence and curfew
Amid the prevailing law and order situation in the state in wake of continued tensions, the Manipur government on Monday announced an extension of the temporary suspension of internet and mobile data services in the territorial jurisdiction of Imphal West, Imphal East, Bishnupur, Kakching, Kangpokpi, Thoubal and Churachandpur.
The suspension has been extended for two days with effect from 5:15 pm today except for those lease lines and FTTH connections to government offices.
In an official statement, the Manipur government stated that this was done after “reviewing the prevailing law and order situation and its possible co-relation with the general operation of internet suspension in the last two days, decided to continue the suspension of internet and mobile data services, including VSATS, broadband (IILL & FTTH) and VPN services.”
The suspension will continue till 5:15 pm on Wednesday, November 20, 2024.

Amit Shah to inaugurate golden jubilee edition of Police Science Conference in Gandhinagar
Themes ranging from community policing to AI in the criminal justice system and from the future of blockchain technology in policing to radicalisation in prisons will be discussed at the 50th All India Police Science Conference in Gandhinagar over the next two days.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah will inaugurate the golden jubilee edition of the conference, organised by the Bureau of Police Research and Development (BPR&D) and hosted by Rashtriya Raksha University, an official said on Monday.
Experts from various fields come under one platform to find solutions to challenges the law enforcement agencies face at the annual conference, Rekha Lohani, Inspector General in the BPR&D, told media persons.
This conference will have eight themes ranging from community policing to AI in the criminal justice system, and from the future of blockchain technology in policing to radicalisation in prisons, Lohani said.
"The themes are selected after consulting various stakeholders, and only after we get suggestions and ideas from a spectrum of organisations, we collaborate to finalise themes that are deliberated," Lohani added.
The application of forensics in new criminal law, policing in smart cities and community policing in tribal and border areas as well as the role of police in disaster risk reduction are among other themes that will be discussed at the event.
Shah will attend the inaugural event as the chief guest with Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel as the special guest.

Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh has convened a meeting with ministers and MLAs of the ruling NDA here at 6 pm on Monday to review the "developing law and order situation in the state", officials said. The development comes amid the National People's Party (NPP), which has seven MLAs in the 60-member Manipur Assembly, withdrawing support from the BJP-led government, claiming that the N Biren Singh dispensation has "completely failed to resolve the crisis and restore normalcy" in the northeastern state. The withdrawal of support on Sunday, however, would not have any impact on the BJP government, as the saffron party enjoys a majority with its 32 MLAs. PM Modi Arrives in Brazil to Attend G20 Summit
Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Brazil on Monday on the second leg of his three-nation visit, during which he will attend the G20 Summit. Modi arrived in the South American country after wrapping up a "productive" visit to Nigeria, where he held bilateral talks with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and interacted with the Indian community. Upon his arrival, PM Modi tweeted, "Landed in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil to take part in the G20 Summit. I look forward to the Summit deliberations and fruitful talks with various world leaders."
