Mangaluru-Madgaon Vande Bharat to be launched from Ayodhya, to boost K'taka coastal connectivity

Mangaluru: The much-anticipated inauguration of the Vande Bharat Express between Mangaluru and Madgaon stations is all set to enhance connectivity along the Karnataka coast, marking the region's first semi-high-speed train service.
The inaugural ceremony, scheduled for December 30, will witness Prime Minister Narendra Modi remotely flagging off this service alongside the inauguration of six other Vande Bharat trains and two new Amrit Bharat trains from Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh.

Trial run
The trial run of the Mangaluru-Madgaon semi-high-speed Vande Bharat Express was a prelude to this event. On Friday, after a successful run, it substantiated how the transportation infrastructure in the region has been developed under the Railway Ministry. Dakshin Kannada MP Nalin Kumar Kateel, local MLAs, and railway officials graced the flag-off ceremony at Mangaluru Central Railway Station during the trial run.
The train's schedule, characterised by efficiency and convenience, reflects its importance for commuters and tourists alike. Departing from Mangaluru Central at 8:30 am, the train reached Madgaon at 1:15 pm. Conversely, its return journey from Madgaon at 1:45 pm marked the end of its maiden journey with its arrival at Mangaluru at 6:30 pm, with scheduled stops at Udupi and Karwar.

‘Vande Bharat part of a bigger plan’: MP Kateel
This launch aligns with larger infrastructure development plans, as mentioned by MP Nalin Kumar Kateel ahead of the trial run. The proposed electrification at Subrahmanya Road and works till Sakleshpur, scheduled for completion by March, also underlines the ongoing efforts to upgrade and modernise the railway network in the region. Furthermore, the earmarked development of platforms at Mangaluru Central, akin to airport standards, signifies a major leap toward enhancing the passenger experience.

The introduction of the Vande Bharat Express not only serves as a boon for commuters and tourists but also showcases a focused approach towards making regional connectivity and infrastructure more robust.
