SP MP Azam Khan raked up yet another controversy after he made sexist and derogatory comments at Lok Sabha chair Rama Devi in the Parliament on Thursday. Responding to the SP leader's remarks, former Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan said that it should not have happened, adding that the decorum of the House should be maintained.

Adding that it is not right, the former Lok Sabha MP also said that one should not make such comments towards the Chair.

"Be it Rama Devi or anyone, the decorum of Parliament should be maintained. It is important for Azam Khan to maintain the decorum. It is not necessary that you make such comments towards the Chair. You should just make your point. This is not right. It should not have happened," Sumitra Mahajan said speaking to Republic TV.

Azam Khan makes sexist comments at Rama Devi

Amid the Triple Talaq Bill debate in Lok Sabha, SP's Rampur MP Azam Khan raised sexist remarks at Lok Sabha chair Rama Devi, which resulted in chaos on the floor of the Lower House of Parliament. He said that he really likes her and felt like looking into her eyes (aankho main aankh dale rahu).

"I really like you so much that I feel like keep looking into your eyes. I feel like never taking my eyes off you," Azam Khan said talking to the Lok Sabha chair.

(Aap mujhe itni achi lagti hai ki aapke aankho main aankhe dale rahu ye mera man karta hai. Main kabhi na nazar haatau aapse. AAp kitni acchi jagah baithi hai.)

Sitting beside hi, SP chief and Azamgarh MP Akhilesh Yadav kept smirking when his party leader made the controversial remarks at Rama Devi. Later, he went onto defend Khan, saying that he does not think his leader has disrespected the Lok Sabha chair. Massive uproar erupted in the Lower House, following which other MPs demanded the SP MP to apologise. However, instead of apologising, Khan walked out of the Lok Sabha.
