The BJP accused Rahul Gandhi of acting as a puppet of George Soros, accused of interfering in India’s domestic politics with ill-intentions. “Who is Bharat Mata, What is, asks puppet of George Soros. Shameful,” said the BJP while sharing a clip of Rahul Gandhi’s speech in a post on X (formerly Twitter). External Affairs minister DR S Jaishankar had earlier dismissed Soros as a “old, rich, opinionated, and dangerous.”

Rahul Gandhi had attacked the Prime Minister and asked him to say, “Adani ji ki jai” instead of “Bharat Mata ki jai,” during a rally in poll-bound Rajasthan’s Bundi on Sunday, November 19. Pitching for nationwide caste census, Gandhi said, “We all raise slogans of 'Bharat Mata ki Jai', but do we know who Bharat Mata is? 'Mother India' is the earth, the people of the country, all of you, your brothers, sisters, parents, poor people of the country..”

“I also raised this issue in Parliament that unless we know how many Dalits, backward classes and tribals there are in the country, then what is the meaning of the slogan 'Bharat Mata Ki Jai'? After the caste census, the Dalits, tribals and backward people of the country will be given their participation... Then there will be true 'Bharat Mata Ki Jai’,” said Gandhi during his address.
