Days after the Supreme Court's dismissed all petitions seeking court-monitored probe in the Rafale deal, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is all set to conduct Press Conferences at 70 locations across the country on Monday, in a bid to "expose Congress for plotting conspiracy against the PM Modi-led Central government and messing with country's defence."

On December 14, while pronouncing its verdict on petitions by Prashant Bhushan and others, the CJI-led three-judge bench of the Supreme Court said that it had examined the petitions along three aspects after having first tried to find out the power of judicial reviews for defence matters - decision-making, pricing and choice of the Indian offset partner.

Having inclined with the government on all three counts, the CJI also said that there would be no intervention in the Rafale deal, adding 'Perception of individuals can't be roving'.

The Supreme Court's dismissal of the pleas into the Rafale deal came as a massive setback to Congress president Rahul Gandhi in particular who had been insistent in his allegations against the government-to-government deal, calling it a scam and turning it into a major poll plank. He had been raising the matter in multiple arenas, from Parliament during the no-confidence motion against the Modi government, to poll rallies.

Hitting out at the Congress party's allegations and refusal to accept the SC's verdict, the Prime Minister, during a rally on Sunday said, "For such people, the defence minister is lying, Supreme Court is lying, Army and Air Force officers lying, France ex-President is also lying, Supreme Court is also lying."

Amidst the uproar by the Congress party, which has accused the Centre of lying and misleading the Supreme Court, the Modi government, on Saturday, filed an application to the Supreme Court issuing corrections on errors with regards to the CAG report on Rafale deal.

The government sent a letter, wherein they informed the topmost court that the word "is" has been replaced with the words "has been" in reference to the PAC.
