Maha twist: Much touted Cong-NCP-Sena meeting with Governor postponed

The three-party delegation of Congress, NCP & Shiv Sena, who were supposed to meet the Governor at 4:30 pm on Saturday has been postponed until further notice.

In a new political development, the Maha Aghadi that is the Congress and NCP along with Shiv Sena, who were supposed to meet the Maharashtra Governor at 4:30 pm on Saturday has been postponed until further notice. This comes as the spokesperson of NCP, Nawab Malik, on Saturday, told the media that the three parties were set to visit the Raj Bhavan to meet the Governor over the farmer distress in Maharashtra. He also said that it the responsibility of the Governor to provide the state with a steady and stable administration. The administration in the state has been completely shut and the people of the state have been feeling helpless due to the uncertainty over government formation, added Nawab Malik. 

Three-party-delegation’s meeting with the Governor postponed 

A three-party delegation of leaders from the Shiv Sena, NCP and Congress, who were supposed to meet the Governor of Maharashtra, Bhagat Singh Koshiyari, to discuss ways to provide a stronger administration to the state has been postponed. Earlier, the NCP had asserted that the three-party alliance will successfully complete a full term in Maharashtra. However, the BJP has also claimed that they will be forming a Government in the state.  Leader of opposition from Congress, Mallikarjun Kharge, on Friday said that all the government formation rumours should be stopped until the party chiefs from NCP and Congress, Sharad Pawar and Sonia Gandhi meet. As per sources, the draft for the 'common minimum program', has been prepared and sent to the chiefs of Congress and NCP.

President’s rule in Maharashtra 

All of this comes after Shiv Sena and then NCP were denied extra time by the Maharashtra Governor, Bhagat Singh Koshiyari. The Governor submitted an 18-page report to the Centre, recommending President's rule. Subsequently, President Ram Nath Kovind accepted the Governor's recommendation and implemented the President's rule in the state. Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has confirmed that Maharashtra assembly is under suspended animation after the President officially signed the order. If no party stakes claim within six months, fresh elections will be held in the state.
