National Approval Rating: In Jammu and Kashmir, UPA projected to gain in comparison to none in 2014; NDA and PDP lag behind

As the General elections of 2019 inch closer, Republic TV and CVoter have collaborated to reveal the seat-share and vote-share projections for every state if elections to the Lok Sabha were held right now. 

In Jammu and Kashmir, there are 6 Lok Sabha seats up for grabs. Here's how the projections look:

Seat share

Out of the total 6 seats, in the state of Jammu and Kashmir, the UPA is predicted to garner 4 seats, followed by 2 seats for BJP, while the PDP, Congress, and others are projected to fail to win any seats.

The projection entails a major gain for the UPA which didn't manage to win any seats in 2014 the Lok Sabha elections, though it did win a 2017 bypoll by dint of which Dr Farooq Abdullah is now a Lok Sabha MP. Meanwhile, also in 2014, the BJP and PDP had each won 3 seats, meaning the PDP is projected to see a big fall from grace.

Vote Share

Pertaining to the current projections for Lok Sabha elections in Jammu and Kashmir, UPA is predicted to lead with 38.1% of vote-share, followed by 33.7% for BJP, and Mehbooba Mufti's PDP at 16%. 

In 2014 Lok Sabha elections, BJP was leading the vote-share with of 32.4%, followed by 34% by UPA and PDP with 20.5%.

Jammu and Kashmir recently had been at the forefront of political turmoil after the dissolution of the Assembly last month by Governor Satya Pal Malik, citing horse-trading and lack of stability to form a government as the reasons. The decision to dissolve the assembly came right after three parties announced their alliance in the state- PDP, National Congress and Congress. President's rule has since been imposed in the state, with assembly elections likely to be held simultaneously with general elections.
