VHP demands Ram Mandir ordinance despite PM Modi's statement, says 'Hindu society can't wait till eternity for court'

VHP has demanded for a legislation for the construction of Ram Mandir at the disputed Ramjanmabhoomi site, saying that the Hindu society cannot be expected to wait for eternity for a court decision on the case.

Addressing a news briefing on Tuesday, VHP's Alok Kumar said, 

"We have seen the statement of the honorable PM on Ramjanmabhoomi issue. The matter has been pending in the court since 2011 it has been a long wait on the Ram Janmabhoomi issue. However, the appropriate bench has not been constituted. The matter was raised with the CJI but it  was adjounred to come up in the first week of 2018. Even then it did not come in front of the appropriate bench. Even this year it has not come up in front to the appropriate bench. Sevral formalities on the case are also pending.  The Hindu society cannot be expected to wait for eternity for a court decision," he said.

He also blamed the Congress for the stalling of the Ram Mandir issue.

The RSS has backed Prime Minister Narendra Modi on his statement about what the Centre plans to do about the Ayodhya dispute. It said that statement by Prime Minister is a positive step in the direction of Temple Construction.

PM Modi had spoken on the issue during his wide-ranging interview with ANI's editor Smita Prakash.

• First, he repeated his resolve towards constructing a Ram Mandir at the disputed site: "We have said in our BJP manifesto that a solution would be found to this issue under the ambit of the Constitution" 
• Second, he made clear that proposed legislative routes such as an ordinance could only come into play once the ongoing legal process -- the title suit in the Supreme Court -- concludes:
• Third, he asked for the matter to not be politicised, saying "Don't weigh it in political terms", and took on the Congress specifically for attempting to stall the matter in the court:

The Prime Minister's view comes just days before the apex court takes up the Ayodhya title dispute again on Jan 4 -- with the bench that will hear the case to be decided. The call for a legislative solution in the issue had been raised by a number of pro-Mandir groups after the Supreme Court earlier de-prioritised its hearings in the case till 2019.
