The farewell ceremony of the caretaker Chief Minister of Gujarat, Vijay Rupani was done at the CM's residence. 

Ahead of Gujarat CM designate Bhupendra Patel's swearing-in ceremony, Union Home Minister Amit Shah arrived in Ahmedabad. Patel was present at the Ahmedabad airport when Amit Shah arrived.

A meeting to discuss the cabinet ministers will take place after the swearing-in ceremony of Bhupendra Patel. Leaders like Amit Shah, Narendra Tomar, Pralhad Joshi, Bhupendra Yadav, and CR Patil will be present at the meeting. The cabinet might be announced by either today or on Tuesday. 

Ahead of his oath-taking ceremony as the new Chief Minister of Gujarat, Bhupendra Patel, on Monday instructed Jamnagar district officials to ensure the safety of those affected by heavy rains in the district. According to the to-be-Chief Minister, assistance has been provided to the three highly affected villages, and currently, steps are being taken to move those stuck to a safe place through airlift arrangements. Bhupendra Patel will take oath as the 17th Chief Minister of Gujarat today.

Ahead of the oath-taking ceremony on Monday, Gujarat's Chief Minister-designate Bhupendra Patel met former Chief Minister Vijay Rupani who had resigned on Saturday. 

According to the latest reports, the Gujarat CM designate Bhupendra Patel's oath-taking ceremony will be attended by Chief Ministers of Goa, Madhya Pradesh, Haryana and Karnataka. The oath-taking ceremony is scheduled for Monday. 

Sources have revealed that Amit Shah will attend the oath-taking ceremony of Gujarat CM-designate Bhupendra Patel. He is expected to leave from his residence at 11 AM.

Sources have revealed that Gujarat CM-designate Bhupendra Patel will move to Hanuman Mandir, then Gurukul, then the Airport at 12 AM to receive Home Minister Amit Shah. After this, the leaders will proceed to Raj Bhavan for the oath-taking ceremony. 

Bhupendra Patel, Member of Legislative Assembly from Gujarat's Ghatlodia constituency, was announced as the new Chief Minister of Gujarat on Sunday by the BJP. The decision to appoint Bhupendra Patel was taken in the legislative meeting called by the Bharatiya Janata Party in the Gujarat party headquarters, Gandhinagar. As per Republic Media Network's sources, Union Home Minister Amit Shah is expected to be present at Bhupendra Patel's swearing-in ceremony on Monday. A meeting is also likely to take place between Amit Shah, Bhupendra Patel, BJP Gujarat in-charge Bhupendra Yadav,  state party president CR Patil to decide on the cabinet.

"It's like Diwali for us, today. This was never expected, a complete surprise for our family, even we saw it on news," Gujarat CM-elect Bhupendra Patel's daughter on her father being chosen as state CM.

Gujarat CM-elect Bhupendra Patel may take the oath at 2.30 pm on Monday. "Bhupendra Patel to take oath tomorrow, no one else," BJP state President CR Patil said, adding that the changes in the ministries will be decided soon.

Gujarat CM-elect Bhupendra Patel on Sunday met Governor Acharya Devvrat at Raj Bhavan in Gandhinagar. Former CM Vijay Rupani and state BJP chief CR Patil were also present.

Bhupendra Patel, who has been named as the next Gujarat CM, will take oath on Monday. State BJP President CR Patil said that only Bhupendra Patel would take oath tomorrow. The changes in the ministries will be decided soon, he added.

Madhya Pradesh CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Sunday congratulated Bhupendra Patel for his appointment as the chief minister of Gujarat. In a tweet, Chouhan said, "May the state and organization touch new heights under your able leadership, best wishes."

Home Minister Amit Shah took to Twitter to congratulate the new chief minister of Gujarat, Bhupendra Patel. He said that under Patel's guidance Gujarat will continue its development journey and state to continue to be a leader in good governance and public welfare.

Sources said that the outgoing Chief Minister, Vijay Rupani is going to propose the name of the next CM in the legislative meeting which is presently underway at the BJP Gujarat Headquarters in Gandhinagar. 

Scoffing at BJP for changing 5 chief ministers in 6 months, Congress spokesperson Randeep Surjewala on Sunday, claimed that this move was PM Modi's way to fool people. Sharing cartoons depicting CMs shrugging responsibilities to their successor, Surjewala pointed out how these changes were being done close to elections. As of date, 4 state CMs - BS Yediyurappa, Trivendra Singh Rawat, Tirath Singh Rawat and now Vijay Rupani have been made to resign by BJP, while Assam CM Sarbananda Sonowal made way for Himanta Biswa Sarma after polls.

Similarly,  AAP spokesperson Raghav Chadha said that AAP was only the actual challenger for BJP in both - Gujarat and Uttarakhand.  Terming Congress as compromised, Chadha claimed that AAP was the preferred choice as they talked of 'politics of work'. AAP is set to contest polls in UP, Gujarat, Uttarakhand, and Goa - where it has promised free electricity upto 300 units.

Addressing a press conference, Chadha said, "BJP and Congress are playing the game of musical chairs. There is a hidden partnership and understanding between them. As a result of this, in Uttrakhand and Gujarat, BJP is not able to deliver the promises and Congress efficiently couldn't play the opposition too". 

Highlighting AAP's rise in Uttarakhand and Gujarat, he said, "When we challenged the BJP in Uttrakhand to tell us about the five major works done for the people, within hours of pointing that out, BJP had to change the CM. AAP initiated a campaign promising electricity to the people, due to which 13 lakh people have been benefitted. We questioned how Tirath Singh Rawat will remain CM if he was not a bypolls and fielded Col. Kothiyal for Gangotri bypolls, BJP changed the CM".

"Gujarat which is said to be the experimenting ground for the BJP, the sanctum of the party has been affected too, as AAP has won Surat as it has given them hope of a govt that does work. People have sacrificed their jobs to join our party in Gujarat. People who are tired of 27 years of bad governance in Gujarat and a comprised Congress can never replace BJP. AAP has effectively challenged the BJP - that is why we have seen leadership change in Uttarakhand and Gujarat. Changing nameplates will not change the dissent that the public has for the BJP", added Chadha.

Sources state that BJP may decide to pick RC Faldu as CM with two Deputy CMs or Nitin Patel may continue as Deputy CM. RC Faldu a prominent Leuva Patel leader, is currently the cabinet minister of Agricultural, Fisheries, Animal Husbandry, and Transport minister in Gujarat

"A CM should be someone who is popular, experienced and takes everyone together. There are rumors in the media that I will be made CM, but the fact is that BJP high command will decide who will be the chief minister," said Patel.

He added, "Vijay Rupani voluntarily resigned as CM. He didn't take the decision under any pressure. The observers sent by party high command are taking the views of senior BJP leaders on who should be made the CM. The decision will be taken at the meeting today".

Briefing the media, BJP spokesperson Yamal Vyas said, "Today at 3 PM, the legislature meet will take place. Naredrasinh Tomar, Prahlad Joshi will be present. Today, itself by 3 the CM will be declared".

Union Minister & BJP's central observer for Gujarat, Narendra Singh Tomar and party's National General Secretary, Tarun Chugh reach the residence of Gujarat BJP President CR Paatil

Union Ministers Prahlad Joshi and Narendra Singh Tomar are scheduled to visit Gujarat as the BJP's central observers. In addition, the BJP will also hold its legislative party meeting on Sunday. 

Sources have reported that the BJP's legislative party meeting to appoint the new Gujarat CM will take place on Sunday at 2 pm. Earlier, the saffron party appointed Union Ministers Pralhad Joshi and Narendra Singh Tomar as central observers. 

Sources inform that a meeting between BJP national general secretary BL Santosh, party's state president CR Patil, Union Ministers Mansukh Mandaviya, Parshottam Rupala is underway at Circuit House in Gandhinagar. 

The BJP on Saturday held a press conference in which it called the change of Chief Minister in Gujarat a 'routine reshuffle'.  Speaking to the media, party leader Yamal Vyas asserted that a meeting will take place on Saturday, in which leaders from the Centre and the state will participate and decide on the name of the new Chief Minister. Pointing out that the whole Gujarat scenario will be taken into consideration while choosing the Chief Minister, he added, " Vijay Rupani has done great work, and the leader who will be replacing him as the CM will have to continue with that work. 

Sources have informed that Nitin Patel would replace Vijay Rupani as the Chief Minister of Gujarat. Pradipsinh Jadeja on the other hand will be made the Deputy Chief Minister of the state. 

Mansukh Mandaviya, Nitinbhai Patel- two of the handful of leaders being considered for the Chief Ministership of Gujarat have reached the BJP office in Gandhinagar. 

As per sources, Gujarat will be getting two new Deputy Chief Ministers. Presently, the position is held by Nitinbhai Patel, who is also one of the names being considered for the post of the state Chief Minister, now that Vijaybhai Rupani has resigned.

Sources claim that the Central leadership of the Bharatiya Janata Party was given an assessment on changing the Chief Minister of Gujarat last month. 

As per sources, Union Home Minister, and former BJP President Amit Shah will be in Ahmedabad for a change in guard. 

In the race to become the Gujarat Chief Minister, Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare Mansukh Mandaviya is reportedly the frontrunner in the eyes of the BJP. Other names that are also being considered by the party are that of Purshottam Rupala, Union Minister of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry Dairying, incumbent Deputy Chief Minister of Gujarat Nitinbhai Patel, and RC Faldu, Minister of Agriculture, Rural Development, and Transport in Government of Gujarat.

As per sources, the Bharatiya Janata Party will be reshuffling the Gujarat cabinet. Five to six Ministers are expected to be dropped, of which Bhupendrasinh Chudasama is a probable name. More responsibility is expected to be given to RC Faldu. 

As per sources, after the BJP decides on a name in the legislative meeting scheduled for Sunday, the new CM will take an oath by September 17. 

In a massive development in Gujarat politics, Chief Minister Vijay Rupani on Saturday tendered his resignation to the state's Governor. After meeting Governor Acharya Devvra, addressing a press conference at Raj Bhavan in Gandhinagar Vijay Rupani confirmed the news. "I am resigning from my chief ministerial post," said Rupani, while thanking the BJP for giving him the opportunity.  

Outlining that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be the main face of the BJP for the Gujarat Assembly Elections which are due to be held next year, the outgoing Chief Minister added, 'I am just a worked of the organization." Vijay Rupani, who has completed 5 years in the post, said that the specialty of BJP is that the responsibility of party workers keeps changing from time to time. "Whatever responsibility I get from the party, I'm ready to fulfill it under the guidance of PM Modi and the party president," he stated.

Vijay Rupani took the state's Chief Ministerial position on August 7, 2016, and is representing Rajkot West in the Gujarat Legislative Assembly. He succeeded Anandiben Patel, who had, in turn, succeeded Narendra Modi when he moved to Delhi to be Prime Minister in 2014 after 13 years as Chief Minister of Gujarat.

Minutes after CM Vijay Rupani tendered his resignation, the Bharatiya Janata Party called for a legislative meeting. The BJP has given strict instruction for all the party MLAs to be present in the meeting, which will also have in attendance BJP state chief CR Patil and outgoing CM Vijay Rupani. The name of the next CM will be decided and declared tomorrow in the meeting.
