Ponung Doming, Arunachal's 1st woman Lieutenant garners appreciation
Army officer Ponung Doming became the first woman officer from the state to make it to the rank of Lieutenant Colonel in the Indian Army. She was praised by CM.

Pema Khandu, the Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh, on Monday, congratulated Army officer Ponung Doming on becoming the first woman officer from the state to make it to the rank of Lieutenant Colonel in the Indian Army. The CM also took to Twitter to express his pride and to congratulate the officer for her achievements.

Doming's inspiring journey
Additionally, she was also praised by the National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval who also congratulated her while also calling her an 'empowered and daring woman'. She is from Pasighat in East Siang district and did her civil engineering from Walchand College of Engineering, Maharashtra in 2005. Following that, she went on to join Larsen & Toubro, Kolkata.
During her time in Kolkata, she prepared for the Service Selection board and finally joined the Officers Training Academy in Chennai in 2008. It took her just four and a half years to rise up to the position of Major. Additionally, in April 2014, she had also joined the UN peacekeeping mission at the Democratic Republic of Congo.

She succeeded despite many hurdles
According to local media, the Lieutenant Colonel said that she is happy and satisfied over her new achievement which gives her more responsibility towards the nation. She also mentioned that despite many financial problems, it was the sheer hard work that led her to finally make it big in her career. Additionally, the officer also suggested that every youth of the state should be as determined and focused in whatever field they choose as Doming was in hers.

Doming, while speaking to the local media, said that she would consider herself blessed if she’s able to inspire even a single person to do whatever little we can do for our state and the country.
