A prominent Telugu Desam Party (TDP) leader Gourinath Chowdary was allegedly murdered by YSRCP workers in Veldurthi Mandal at Bommirreddipalle village.

Kurnool: In what is being perceived as a politically motivated attack, a prominent Telugu Desam Party (TDP) leader Gourinath Chowdary was allegedly murdered by YSRCP workers in Veldurthi Mandal at Bommirreddipalle village, Kurnool district on Monday.
ANI reported that forces were deployed to maintain law and order in the region and that Kurnool SP also visited the village and assured the residents of security measures.

As per ANI, "TDP leader Gourinath Chowdary was brutally murdered allegedly by YSRCP workers in Veldurthi Mandal, Kurnool district. The incident occurred in Bommirreddipalle village, where Gourinath Chowdary was attacked, resulting in his death. Forces have been deployed to maintain law and order in the region. Kurnool SP visited the village and assured the residents of security measures. The police have also set up a picket in the village to prevent any further untoward incidents. The murder is seen as a politically motivated attack, as the victim was a prominent TDP leader in the area. The rivalry occurred due to political issues, and YSRCP activists brutally murdered the TDP leader. A case has been registered, and search operations are underway to trace out the accused. The Circle Inspector and Sub-Inspector were sent to VR ( Vacancy reserve ) after the incident: Pathikonda DSP Srinivas."
On the political front, the TDP Legislature Meeting will be held on June 11 to elect N Chandrababu Naidu as the leader, said a party spokesperson on Monday.

Jyotshna Tirunagari said the meeting is expected to take place on Tuesday morning. "Telugu Desam Legislature Party meeting will be held tomorrow (Tuesday). Naidu will be elected as the leader," Tirunagari told PTI.
Following this, leaders of the NDA comprising TDP, BJP and Janasena would meet Governor S Abdul Nazeer and stake claim to form a government, she said.

According to Tirunagari, there could be an invitation from the Governor to form the government by Tuesday evening.
Along with Naidu, more leaders could be sworn in on Wednesday. Naidu is scheduled to take oath as CM at 11:27 am by Kesarapalli IT Party near Gannavaram Airport.

Tirunagari said some of the leaders who could take oath alongside Naidu could be finalised on Tuesday night.
The NDA won a landslide victory in the recently concluded simultaneous Lok Sabha and Assembly elections in the southern state. (with PTI inputs)
