Pune: The education department in Pune has identified 49 institutions operating without proper authorisation. Of these, 13 schools have been shut down, and criminal charges have been filed against 10.
According to Zilla Parishad Primary Education Officer Sanjay Naikede, legal proceedings are also being initiated against 12 more schools.
The list of unauthorised schools, published by the Pune Zilla Parishad, includes 49 institutions located in rural areas as well as within the jurisdictions of the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation and the Pune Municipal Corporation.
Of the 49 unauthorised schools, 13 have been closed. Five schools have been approved, and three have received letters of intent from the government. Four schools have taken legal action by filing petitions in court, and 12 have paid fines. Legal proceedings are ongoing for the remaining 12 schools.
The schools that are facing criminal charges include Jesus Christ English Medium School, Kamshet; King’s Way Public School, Lonavala Raiwood; EMH English Medium School, Fursungi; Ramdas City School, Loni Kalbhor Ramdara; Orchid International School, Undri; Little Star English Medium School, Chinchwadnagar; Orchid International School, Chinchwad Link Road; Ideal English Medium School, Pimple Gurav; Peep Tree Education Trust Gandhinagar, Pimple Nilakh; Taqwa Islamic School, Kondhwa Khurd, run by Taqwa Education Trust.
