Pune: The Pune Police is likely to move to Supreme Court against the release of juvenile in the Porsche crash case which claimed two lives. The Pune Police is planning to challenge the Bombay High Court in Apex court which allowed the release of the minor.
The Bombay High Court on June 25 directed that the boy be released immediately, saying the Juvenile Justice Board's (JJB) orders remanding him to an observation home were illegal and the law regarding juveniles must be implemented fully. Following the order, the juvenile was released from the observation home where he was sent days after he was granted bail.
The juvenile accused is currently under the care of his paternal aunt. The Bombay High Court's order was also based on the petition of his aunt, which claimed that the juvenile accused was wrongly detained.
Two software engineers were killed in the early hours of May 19 in Kalyani Nagar in Pune after a Porsche allegedly being driven by the drunk minor rammed into their two wheeler. As per the police, the teen was drunk and driving the luxury car belonging to his father, a real estate businessman, when it hit a two-wheeler.
Juvenile's father Vishal Agarwal and grandfather Surendra Agarwal were also booked by the Pune Police after a huge outcry. The juvenile's parents and grandfather are currently in jail in two different cases pertaining to the incident, including one of alleged swapping of blood samples of the boy and another case of alleged kidnapping and wrongful confinement of a family driver, who was threatened to take the blame that he was behind the wheels when the accident took place.
A Pune court is likely to pronounce its order on Monday on the bail plea of the boy's father and grandfather in the kidnapping case.
