Pune: Severe waterlogging was witnessed at Pune’s Central Railway Station along with several parts of the city after incessant rainfall on Sunday putting a break on the pace of the city. Several streets were submerged in rainwater leading to massive vehicular jams on the roads and undated residential areas in the city. Following the massive rainfall, several visuals also surfaced on social media, capturing submerged roads, the undated railway station and flooded residential areas drawing massive criticism from the netizens to Pune’s civic body.
The severe waterlogging in Pune on Sunday came just two weeks after major flooding and waterlogging crippled the city. The waterlogging was accompanied by traffic snarls as several vehicles broke down on the waterlogged streets. The people were seen evacuating their vehicles on flooded streets and crossing the streets with water touching their knees.
As Pune grapples with major waterlogging amidst heavy rainfall, here are the latest updates on Pune rain:
- After heavy downpours, rainwater entered residences in the Thergaon Sunder Colony area. On information, the fire department reached the area and broke a wall with JCB to allow water to flow to drain. However, there were no reports of people left stranded in water.
- The Ramwadi subway, connecting Kalyani Nagar to the airport was closed once due to flooding, resulting in a traffic blockade on this route.
- Rainfall caused heavy waterlogging in Pune's Camp area, where rainwater entered many residential and Nala market areas causing panic among residents.
- With water accumulating in the parking areas in Gulmohar City Society in Pune's Kharadi the situation turned to be unbearable for the locals. This heavy rainfall also caused damage to the property in the area.
- The streets near Jaisingh Rao Sasane Garden in Pune located on BT Kawade Road was seen heavily flooded, where commuters were seen struggling to move with their vehicles.
- Pune's Central Railway Station was submerged in rainwater after 1 hour of rainfall in the city. Passengers were seen struggling to enter the railway station with their luggage amidst knee-deep waterlogging outside the railway station on Sunday.
- The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted more heavy rains and thunderstorms in Pune during the late afternoon and evening of August 19 and 20.
- The ongoing rains have worsened the condition of Pune's roads, which are now riddled with potholes, creating hazardous driving conditions and contributing to severe traffic congestion across the city. Many residents have taken to social media to express their frustration over these challenges.
- After just half an hour of rain, two prime areas of Pune—Koregaon Park and Magarpatta—were left flooded.
- Heavy rain lashed Pune on Sunday leaving many areas submerged in knee-deep water within an hour.
- The sudden downpour has caused major disruptions for Pune residents, particularly in the Vadgaon Sheri and Station areas, which were severely impacted.
- Pune received a fresh spell of rainfall after ten days of dry spells. The city was drenched by heavy rain for over an hour raising concerns over the city's sewer and drainage system.

- Commuters were heavily affected as vehicles stalled on waterlogged roads. The Sinhagad Road area continues to experience heavy rainfall.
