Jaipur: The Rajasthan government has sanctioned ad-hoc bonuses for approximately six lakh employees as a Diwali gift, an official statement said.
According to an official announcement, Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma has approved these bonuses for state employees, benefiting around 6,00,000 government staff. The additional financial burden for the state will be around Rs 500 crore. The ad-hoc bonuses will also be applicable to employees of Panchayat Samiti and Zila Parishad, the statement added.

This year Diwali will be celebrated on October 31 and in some cities on November 1.
In a significant move for government employees in Tamil Nadu, the DMK government has announced Diwali bonuses and ex-gratia payments for 2.75 lakh employees working in state public sector undertakings (PSUs) and statutory boards for the 2023-24 fiscal year.

An official statement revealed that eligible Group C and D employees of profitable PSUs will receive bonuses ranging from Rs 8,400 to Rs 16,800, amounting to 8.33% of their salary, along with an ex-gratia payment of 11.67%. For employees of PSUs lacking sufficient profits, a bonus of 8.33% and an ex-gratia of 1.67% will be granted.
The Chief Minister directed the disbursement of bonuses and ex-gratia to 275,670 PSU workers on October 10, ahead of the Diwali festivities. This initiative will impose a cost of ₹369.65 crore on the government. Additionally, employees in sectors such as TANGEDCO, state transport undertakings, the Tamil Nadu Civil Supplies Corporation, and the Cooperative Milk Producers' Federation will receive a 20% bonus and ex-gratia.
