Rajasthan: Mother Kills 4 Kids by Drowning Them in Water Tank Before Attempting Suicide

A woman in Rajasthan’s Barmer district, allegedly killed her 4 minor children by drowning them in a water tank before attempting to end her life by suicide.

Barmer: In a distressing incident, a woman in Rajasthan’s Barmer district, allegedly killed her 4 minor children by drowning them in a water tank before attempting to end her life by suicide. The incident reportedly took place on Sunday, while the husband of the woman was out of the town for the past around 15 days. According to the sources, as the incident took place, a few people, who saw them jumping into a water tank, rushed to spot and shifted all 4 children along with the woman to a nearby hospital after fishing them out of the tank.

At the hospital, the four children were declared dead, while the woman is under treatment. The police have informed the husband of the woman and are probing the matter to ascertain the cause behind this extreme step.

Police have registered a case and initiated legal action

According to the police, the deceased children include two girls of the age 11 years and 9 years and two boys of the age 7 and 5 years.

A case has been registered in the matter and a probe has been initiated.

As per the sources, the incident took place in Tala village of Dhanne in Sadar police station area. It was on Sunday, when the woman along with her four children jumped in a water tank in an attempt to die by suicide. However, the people present nearby saw them jumping into the water tank and at once rushed to spot and retrieved them from the tank. All the five were then shifted to a hospital, where all the four children were declared dead, while the woman survived.

During preliminary inquiry, it was found that the children's father Purkharam Kamtha, who works as a labourer at under construction buildings, was in Jalore district for the last 15 days.

Further legal action into the matter is being taken.
