New Delhi: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued red alert for several parts of Gujarat and yellow alert for Maharashtra, Odisha Himachal and several other multiple regions predicting heavy rainfall over the coming days. The alert comes as part of a broader warning across several states in India, where heavy rains have been disrupting life.

Red Alert for Gujarat, Heavy Rains Disrupt Daily Life 

In Gujarat, the situation is particularly severe, with the IMD issuing a red alert for the Saurashtra and Kutch regions. The state has been battered by heavy rainfall, leading to a flood-like situation in several areas. 

Roads are waterlogged, and many places have been inundated, causing disruption to daily activities. The heavy downpours have resulted in the loss of seven lives till date in Gujarat. More than 15,000 residents have been evacuated from their homes, and over 300 individuals have been rescued. The severe weather has also affected train and flight services, leading to delays and cancellations.

Rescue Force Deploys in Gujarat 

To manage the situation, the Indian Army, National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) have been deployed for rescue operations. Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel held a video conference to assess the situation, where it was reported that 15 rivers, 21 lakes, and several reservoirs in Gujarat are overflowing. Patel urged people to avoid going near these water bodies due to the high risk of flooding and issued a call for strict vigilance.

Mumbai Updates

In Maharashtra, heavy rainfall is expected in isolated areas of Raigad and Ratnagiri on August 28, as per the IMD's latest update. The weather conditions are being closely monitored as the state prepares for the impact of these heavy rains. Mumbai will experience moderate to light showers today with cloudy skies. The temperature is likely to range between 26 degrees Celsius to 32 degrees Celsius.

Rajasthan Update

In Rajasthan, the IMD has forecasted heavy rainfall for isolated areas on August 28. Meanwhile, Odisha is bracing for heavy downpours on August 28, with even more intense rain expected on August 29.

IMD Predicts ‘Heavy’ Rainfall in Himachal Pradesh 

In Himachal and Odisha ‘Heavy’ to ‘Very Heavy’ Rainfall has been forecast by the weather department. In Odisha IMD has said, 28 and 29 the area will witness very heavy downpours disrupting daily life.

Delhi Weather Update

New Delhi has been experiencing light to moderate rainfall in some areas, but inadequate infrastructure has negatively impacted lives due to waterlogging in several parts. On Wednesday, the Mehrauli-Gurgaon Road was flooded, causing significant problems for commuters.
