Renukaswamy Murder: Darshan, His Aide Quizzed Over Cover-Up Money

Bengaluru: Actor Darshan, an accused in the Renukaswamy murder case, was quizzed by police about Rs 40 lakh recovered from his residence which he allegedly borrowed from   his friend to pay to another accused to destroy the evidence of the murder. It is learnt that apart from Darshan, Pradosh and Vinay also played a significant role in destroying the evidence in the case. 

Both Darshan and Pradosh were questioned about the source of cash. Darshan also inquired about the account using which the cash was drawn. During investigation police also inquired Darshan about the person who lent him money and the purpose of stashing Rs 40 lakh at his residence.

During quizzing, Darshan revealed that he had borrowed cash from one Mohan Raj. Cops are further investigating about Mohan Raj and if he has a possible link with the case.

So far police have collected 139 pieces of evidence. The police are seizing weapons, vehicles, bikes, clothes used in the crime. 

Police Custody of Darshan, 3 Others Ends Today

Meanwhile , the police custody of four accused, including Darshan, Vinay, Pradosh, and Dhanraj ends today. They will be produced before a court this afternoon. It is unlikely that they will be remanded in police custody. It is being speculated that the court may remand the four accused to judicial custody.

Actor Darshan will be sent to Parappana Agrahara Prison if judicial custody is ordered. This will be Darshan's second time at Parappana Agrahara Prison if he is remanded to judicial custody today as he was sent to judicial custody for 28 days after allegedly assaulting his wife in 2011.

The four accused will also undergo medical tests at the Annapoorneshwari Nagar police station before heading for court hearing.

Police have also heightened security outside the court. KSRP platoons have been deployed as a precautionary measures as cops expect gathering of Darshan's fans near the court.

What is Renukaswamy Murder Case?

For the unversed, Renukaswamy, a resident of Chitradurga and a fan of the 47-year-old actor Darshan, had allegedly commented on the social media account of Gowda, a small-time actress, accusing her of creating a rift between the actor and his wife. He had also allegedly used "indecent language" and posted offensive messages, according to police sources.

Renukaswamy was allegedly kidnapped and brutally tortured which resulted in his death. As chilling details of his murder emerged during an investigation into the case by police, Kannada actor Darshan Thoogudeepa, his close friend Pavithra Gowda and 11 of his associates were arrested on June 11 in connection with the murder.
