New Delhi: The Rouse Avenue Court has directed the registration of an FIR against former Delhi Chief Minister and AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal, MLA Gulab Singh, and Councillor Nitika Sharma for alleged misuse of public money. The court's order comes in response to a complaint filed in 2019, which accused the trio of putting up large hoardings using public funds in Dwarka.

The complaint, filed by a concerned citizen, alleged that Kejriwal and two other AAP leaders had misused public funds to put up large hoardings in 2019. The complainant claimed that the hoardings were erected without proper authorisation and at a huge cost to the public exchequer. The court has taken cognisance of the complaint and has directed the police to register an FIR against the accused.

According to the sources, the case pertains to a complaint filed back in 2019, claiming that Kejriwal, along with former AAP MLA Gulab Singh and Dwarka Councillor Nitika Sharma, misused public funds by installing large hoardings in Dwarka.

The Rouse Avenue Court's order is a major step towards ensuring transparency and accountability in the use of public funds. The court has directed the police to submit an action report by March 18, which will detail the progress of the investigation. Experts believe that the court's move is expected to bring some semblance of order to the alleged misuse of public funds.

In a related development, the Rouse Avenue Court has also ordered a fresh hearing on alleged property defacement by Arvind Kejriwal, Gulab Singh, and Nitika Sharma. The case involves allegations of defacement of public property, including the erection of unauthorised hoardings. The court's order overturns a previous decision by a Dwarka Court, which had dismissed the complaint.

The fresh hearing is expected to shed more light on the alleged misuse of public funds and property defacement.
