Shimla: Driver, Mechanic Held for Sexually Assaulting Woman in Bus
According to the police, one of the accused is a driver and the other a mechanic, both employed by HRTC.
Shimla: Two employees of the Himachal Road Transport Corporation (HRTC) were arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting a 21-year-old student on a bus in Shimla, police reported on Thursday.
The incident took place on Wednesday evening when the student, who studies at a private institution, boarded an HRTC bus heading to the Sunni area. According to the police, one of the accused is a driver and the other a mechanic, both employed by HRTC.
In her complaint, the victim alleged that one of the accused approached her after boarding the bus and demanded her mobile number and social media details. When she resisted, the other accused sat next to her and attempted to sexually assault her, the police stated.
SHO Sunni Police Station, B R Sharma, confirmed that a case has been registered under sections 75(2) (sexual harassment), 78(2) (stalking), and 3(5) (common intention) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. The investigation is ongoing.
