New Delhi: The monsoon is finally here in Delhi bringing respite in the national capital from the scorching heat, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) said in its bulletin. It added that the Southwest Monsoon will further advance into the entire Delhi region.
On Friday, June 28, several areas of the national capital were hit by heavy rain showers causing waterlogging in many parts.
"The Northern Limit of Monsoon passes through 26 °N/65 °E, Jaisalmer, Churu, Bhiwani, Delhi, Aligarh, Kanpur, Ghazipur, Gonda, Kheri, Moradabad, Dehradun, Una, Pathankot, Jammu, 33 °N/74 °E," the bulletin read.
In the wee hours of Friday, as downpours continued till the peak hour, office-goers faced a hard time.
The heavy overnight rainfall left several parts of the Delhi-NCR, including the Madhu Vihar area, Noida Sector 62 waterlogged.
Svera; visuals emerged from the flooded areas wherein people can be seen wading through the knee-deep water.
Delhi's Safdarjung weather station recorded 153.7 mm of rainfall, which began around 3 am.
In 2023, Delhi welcomed the monsoon on June 26. Meanwhile, in 2022, it arrived on June 30 and in 2021 on July 13.
In 2020, the monsoon reached Delhi on June 25, PTI reported citing data.
