Speeding Vehicle Overturns in Jammu's Akhnoor: 2 Killed, 13 Injured

In a tragic incident in Jammu's Akhnoor, at least 2 people were killed and 13 others reportedly injured after a speeding passenger vehicle overturned.

Jammu: In another tragic incident that surfaced from Jammu and Kashmir’s Akhnoor city located in Jammu district, at least 2 people were killed and 13 others reportedly injured after a passenger vehicle lost its balance and overturned. The incident took place on Sunday evening in the Kalith area of Akhnoor, which led to a panic like situation in the area. It is being said that the vehicle along with passengers was on its way to Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine in Katra. 

On information of the incident, the local police and officials from the district administration rushed to the spot and initiated a rescue operation. All the victims were shifted to the nearby hospital in Akhnoor for treatment, where two of them were declared dead by the doctors.

A senior police official stated that the incident occurred after the speeding passenger vehicle lost its control at a turn and overturned on the road causing fatal injuries to 2 passengers and injuring over a dozen people.

The victims are hospitalised and are being treated.

A case has been registered by the local police and a probe has been initiated into the matter.

The police are trying to ascertain the exact cause of the incident and are taking further legal action.

Earlier, in another major road crash incident reported from Jammu’s Akhnoor area, at least 22 people were killed and over 70 were injured after a bus rolled down in a gorge in the Tanda Morh on the Jammu-Poonch Highway. The bus was on its way to Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine in Katra and was coming from Uttar Pradesh's Hathras.
