J&K Terror Attack: CRPF Jawan Killed, 6 Injured As Terrorists Strike Again, Search Ops Underway

Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir Police and the Indian Army have jointly launched a massive search operation to nab terrorists. In the last 72 hours, three separate terror attacks have taken place in Jammu and Kashmir. The forces have launched combing operations in several places of the union territory. During the late hours of Tuesday, two separate encounters took place with terrorists in Doda and Kathua . In these encounters, both terrorists were shot dead by the security forces, while a CRPF Jawan was also killed in action in Kathua. Furthermore, in Doda, five army personnel and one special Jammu and Kashmir police officer suffered injuries during the encounter. 

In J&K's Doda, the encounter between terrorists and security forces broke out after the former attacked a joint check post of the 4 Rashtriya Rifles and police in the Chattergalla area on the Bhadarwah-Pathankot road during the early hours of Wednesday. The gunfight was ongoing until the last reports from the spot. 

Kashmir Tigers Claim Responsibility 

As per the latest information received by Republic Media Network, a group named "Kashmir Tigers" claimed responsibility for the attack.

"Kashmir Tigers claim responsibility for the attack in the Chattergala area of Doda. Mujahideen of Kashmir Tigers attacked a joint Naka party of the Indian Army and Jammu Police in the Chattergala area of Doda. Several Indian personnel were killed in the attack, five Indian Army personnel and one Jammu Police personnel were injured. This war will continue till Freedom of Kashmir," the statement by the group read.

Encounter Breaks Out in Kathua, 2 Terrorists Killed

Meanwhile, in another terror attack, police and security forces engaged in an operation to track down a terrorist hiding in Saida Sukhal village in Kathua district, officials said. In the Kathua district, the security forces continued to engage in an operation to track down a terrorist hiding in Saida Sukhal village by conducting a house-to-house search. During the encounter, Kabir Dass, the CRPF jawan was critically injured in a firing by a terrorist holed up in Kathua district's Saida Sukhal village around 3 am, officials said, adding that the soldier was shifted to a hospital where he succumbed to injuries during treatment. Furthermore, both terrorists have been killed by the forces. 

The search operation in Saida Sukhal began after two infiltrated terrorists appeared in the village late Tuesday. As per the police statement, the terrorists asked for water from several houses, raising suspicion among villagers.

However, when villagers raised an alarm, the terrorists fired randomly.

Sharing details about the Kathua operation, Anand Jain, Additional Director General of Police, Jammu zone, said, “Two terrorists who appeared to be freshly infiltrated (from across the border) surfaced in Saida Sukhal village around 8 pm and asked for water from a household. The people got frightened and as soon as information was received, a police team headed by the sub-divisional police officer and a Station House officer rushed to the village.”

Pak-Made Medicines, 1 Lakh Indian Currency Recovered From Terrorists

The security forces have recovered Pakistan-made medicines and around Rs 1 Lakh of Indian currency from the terrorist killed in Kathua. Here's what has been found from the terrorist killed. 

4 magazines 
200 rounds. 
Live Grenades
1 lakh Indian Currency
Eatables (Pak-made chocolates, dry chana and stale chapatis) 
Pakistan-made Medicines and injections (pain killers) 1 syringe 
2 packs of A4 batteries
1 handset wrapped in tape having an antenna 
2 wires hanging from this handset.

These incidents come amid heightened security efforts following an attack on a Reasi terror attack, where a bus carrying pilgrims from the Shiv Khori temple to Katra was attacked by terrorists, which caused the bus to veer off the road and fall into a deep gorge, leaving 10 dead and 41 injured.
