Tamil Nadu: Ailing sloth bear dies

A sloth bear, ailing for some time, died on Saturday, officials said. The male bear was rescued by the Forest Department on Friday from a reserve forest in Madukkarai range and treated at an elephant camp, they said.

Veterinarian Sukumar said the ageing bear had lost most of its canines and incisors, and was weak. The animal died without responding to treatment and was buried in the forest, they added.
