Tripura Horror: Class 5 Student Kidnapped and Gangraped While Returning from School

Guwahati: Another shocking incident of assault has come to light from Tripura, where a minor who was a student of class 5, was allegedly kidnapped and gangraped when she was returning from school. A case ahs been registered but no arrests have been made so far.

Class 5 Student Kidnapped, Gangraped in Tripura

A class 5 student, who may be nine or ten years of age, was allegedly kidnapped and gangraped in the South Tripura district, when she was returning home from school. The incident was brought to light after the minor's father went to the police because his daughter had not come home from school and no one at school also knew where she was; he suspected kidnapping. 

A police complaint was filed and the girl was later found near her house; as part of the investigation, the minor was also taken to various locations where she was sexually assaulted.

According to a police officer, “We received information yesterday that a student of Class 5 didn't return home from school. Accordingly, we started an investigation and came to know that a man left her near her house. He was identified as a 22-year-old man from the same area. We have filed a first information report and started an investigation.”

A case has been registered under multiple sections of the Bhartiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO); no arrest has been made yet but an investigation is underway.

Second Gangrape Incident in Tripura in Two Days

This is the second gangrape incident in two days. A 16-year-old girl, was allegedly kidnapped, gang-raped and dumped into a jungle by two persons in North Tripura district, police said on Friday. The victim is undergoing treatment at Dharmanagar district hospital as she suffered multiple injuries. Police arrested two persons for their alleged involvement in the gang rape that happened on Thursday. "The girl was walking on a village road on Thursday afternoon. Suddenly, two persons riding a bike kidnapped the girl and took her to a nearby jungle and gang-raped her," the Superintendent of Police (SP), North Tripura, Bhanupada Chakraborty said on Friday.
