UP: Driver Dozes Off, Bus Carrying Vaishno Devi Pilgrims Crash Leaving 40 Injured

Firozabad: In an appalling incident, a bus carrying devotees overturned on the Agra Lucknow Expressway after the driver fell asleep, leaving around 40 passengers injured in the wee hours of Saturday, confirmed officials. 

The injured were rushed to nearby hospitals in Saifai and Firozabad. The officials said that the condition of many injured passengers is critical and they are getting the required medical treatment.

The initial probe into the incident revealed that devotees were en route to Chhattisgarh after offering prayers at Vaishno Devi shrine in Katra, Jammu. 

The bus accident occurred near milestone 51 on the Agra-Lucknow Expressway in Naseerpur police station limits. The driver dozed off mid-way after which the bus carrying pilgrims lost control and overturned, said officials.

Acting on the complaint by locals, the Naseerpur police team rushed to the spot and launched a rescue operation. Further investigation into the matter has been launched.
