Earlier in August 2018, a man from Kerala was arrested after he allegedly drunk-dialled the police control room and issued a death threat against President Ram Nath Kovind. Jayaraman was a priest at Chirakkal temple in Thrissur who was arrested by the police after he called up the control room at around 11.30 pm and said that he would plant a bomb at a scheduled event of President Kovind in the state.

According to Thrissur Superintendent of Police (SP), MP Dinesh, the temple priest was under the influence of alcohol when he called the cops and did not remember anything on regaining consciousness the next day.

While Jayaraman had reportedly told the police that he was in an inebriated state when he made the call, the police were also investigating other angles. The police had conducted a probe to check whether someone else made the call from Jayaraman’s number.
